A step forward in achieving Zero Waste in Qatar

Nispana is proud to host its 3rd Edition Waste Management & Recycling Summit on 17 – 18 September 2014 at Intercontinental Hotel in Doha, Qatar. Qatar is making conscious and ongoing efforts in reducing the amount of waste going to landfills and instead stressing on recycling to improve the waste management efforts in the region. The solid waste management market in Qatar alone has a potential of more than USD 600 Million. The country currently aspires to recycle 38% of its solid waste up from the current 8% which will considerably reduce the domestic per capita waste generation. 

The upcoming waste management conference looks at addressing various waste related concerns like how the oil & gas industry is rising to the challenge of waste management, QGBC’s initiatives with regards to waste management in Qatar, Analyzing and understanding the current situation of medical waste management in the State of Qatar and challenges of Industrial waste in Bahrain to name a few. Meshal Al Shamari – Director – Qatar Green Building Council, Mr. Salah Nezar – Corporate Sustainability Director - Qatar Project Management, Mr. Saif S Al Naimi - Director of HSE Regulations and Enforcement Directorate - Qatar Petroleum and Eng. Khaled El EMADI - Manager of Quality & Safety Department– Public Works Authority ASHGHAL amongst others. With professional management of waste becoming the need of the hour, Keppel Seghers will be sharing their views on how the Domestic Solid Waste Management Centre (DSWMC) will help in improving waste management in Qatar. This center is a one of its kind center in the Middle East.  

The conference has a very strong relevance to the current waste scenario in Qatar and is being supported by prestigious organizations like Supreme Council of Health Qatar, Qatar Green Building Council and Middle East Facility Management Association
